At the core of Quorum's EMAX appliance is an easy to configure management system, which is both flexible and granular, that allows XenServer administrators to effectively and efficiently monitor, manage and optimize XenServer virtualized server environments.

EMAX ensures business continuity and agility through a variety of methods, including XenServer high availability - restarting applications on VMs or restarting VMs on secondary or backup XenServer hosts when application or VM failures are detected; consolidating servers by XenMotioning VMs on underutilized XenServer hosts to a single XenServer host and shutting down the underutilized XenServer hosts to conserve resources; and reporting and acting upon quality of service metrics to ensure optimal application and/or system health and performance.

s In-Context High Availability (iHA) provides XenServer administrators the ability to ensure maximum application protection for their XenServer environments. An example of Quorum's iHA involves powering up a virtual machine (VM) on a server having available capacity within the failover pool, executing this immediately upon detecting a failure of the host virtual machine. Once the VM is up and running, any applications that were running on the failed host machine are automatically launched on the new VM.

Quorum's EMAX is also highly effective at managing virtual resources. With EMAX continuously monitoring the CPU and memory utilization at the VM and hypervisor level, workloads can be automatically XenMotioned to another host machine when a specific performance threshold has been exceeded. In this way virtual resource management can deliver high quality application performance.

Quorum's EMAX ensures your XenServer environment is always-on. EMAX provides fully automated and orchestrated disaster recovery for XenServer, allowing administrators to dramatically reduce the time it takes to recover from critical system failures or a site wide disaster. When EMAX detects a failure in the virtual environment it notifies the administrator via email. With secured permissions, the administrator need only "click once" and the entire disaster recovery process is invoked by EMAX.
